I'm gonna 'splode

Have you ever felt like you're under tons of pressure that keeps mounting and mounting until you're just going to pop? That's how I've felt this week.

I just haven't felt like I'm with it at work. I think some of it has to do with the fact I'm pulling double duty for a full week, producing two shows. It's hard to do.

I'm so beat after this week, I blew off plans to go watch the Titans-Colts game in Nashville. And I really hate that.

My wife's overwhelmed at work too. She's having to learn a lot of new bankruptcy laws since they changed. The only person in our family who's not beat down at the end of the week is our daughter, who never seems to run out of steam. She has simple needs: Eat a biscuit in the morning with dad, play the Wiggles CD in the car on the way to daycare, and give me a hug when you leave.

I can take solace in the fact that we now have a TiVo in the house. It's been here a week and I already don't know how I got along without it.

When you hook up a TiVo for the first time, it just starts recording crap and leaving it in there for you to watch. I had to teach it after the first day that I don't want to watch Warren Beatty movies from 1965, nor do I want to watch movies so bad they only air on Lifetime at 7:30 on a Sunday morning.

But now we're getting along great. It's set on a regular schedule, and I never knew I watched so many shows: Lost, Arrested Development, Rome, Alias, and The Ultimate Fighter 2 are all being recorded on a weekly basis. And that's not taking into account the fact that I sit down and watch The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

If I like it, the Night Stalker remake might make it into the TiVo rotation too...although Kolchak's not the same without the stupid hat.

Is it bad of me to have all these shows I watch on a regular basis and none of them are on the television station I work for?
