Jason is an idiot

It's been a rough week in news -- lots and lots of last-minute changes, hectic newscasts. After our post-show meeting at six, our director said we needed some new chairs in the control room because "the fabric on them is all bunched up."

So, here's what Jason did. Jason started calling phones in the newsroom and hanging the phone up when people answered. So naturally, some of us started doing it back until it drove him crazy. At some point, he managed to forward his voicemail to the cell phone of Brian, our sat truck operater.

One night, I get a call from someone with a story idea about finding a band-aid in some soup. I forward it to Jason's voicemail and head toward the control room, because the 10 show's about to start. I meet Brian coming up the hall on his cell phone -- talking with someone who had a story idea about a band-aid they found in some soup. He thought someone was messing with him, so he took the info and I went on to the show.

Yesterday, Brian comes up to me and hands me his phone. It's got a voicemail from someone else, with a story idea for Jason. That's when it clicked that Jason had done something dumb and didn't get his voicemail for the last two days.

Of course, we're still torturing Jason with the phone thing. He's gotten wise to us calling his phone, so we just call the newsroom number and wait for him to pick it up from his desk. I'm about to do it right now...

... beautiful.
